Damien Sandow had a lengthy run as a WWE superstar that saw many brushes with greatness. Now known as Aron Stevens, the former Money in the Bank winner is about to call it a career. Today, he announced that he will wrestle his final match in June.
The last opponent for Aron Stevens will be fellow former WWE star, Trevor Murdoch. The two will lock horns at NWA’s Alwayz Ready. The show takes place on June 11 at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Stevens announced the bout on Instagram. He made a brief statement about the upcoming match, staying fully in character. He said he will keep the entire wrestling community in his thoughts and prayers as he leaves an industry that he feels he left much better off than he found it.
“This match against Trevor Murdoch at #ALWAYZREADY, My Swan song as it were, not only marks the finale of an unparalleled wrestling career but the dawn of a new age. When I first left wrestling, the business experienced one of the biggest lulls in its history.
Since returning, my presence has not only proven a blessing to fans everywhere but the entire industry has been better off because I was a part of it. After June 11th I will keep the wrestling fans, all staff, the competitors, and the entire industry in my thoughts and prayers going forward as they all proceed without me. Thank you”
As Damien Sandow, Aron Stevens is a former WWE Tag Team Champion. He won the 2013 Money in the Bank match but lost his cash-in match to John Cena. From there, he moved on to TNA before taking a hiatus from wrestling. In 2019, he joined the NWA, where he will wrestle his final match.
