Stephanie McMahon surprised a lot of wrestling fans when she announced that she was taking a leave of absence from WWE. McMahon has been very successful as the company’s Chief Brand Officer. Stephanie has won multiple awards for her performance in the role.
The reason Stephanie McMahon gave for her hiatus was to spend more time with her family. Skepticism began almost immediately, with all kinds of wild theories being thrown about. None of those have been confirmed.
Mike Johnson of PW Insider has now reported that WWE employees are internally being told the reason for McMahon’s time off. The last year was very rough on her family due to Triple H’s ongoing health issues. It was also noted that WWE president Nick Khan will be bringing in a full-time executive to fill in for Stephanie.
“Everyone internally within WWE who have asked have been told Stephanie McMahon is taking her extended leave due to the last year being very rough on her family for all the obvious reasons and that she’s taking time to focus on her family.
While WWE President Nick Khan is working with several of WWE’s partners in McMahon’s absence, the belief is that eventually, the company will bring someone in to handle Brand Management on an Executive level full-time.”
WWE office staffers were largely surprised by the news. Stephanie McMahon is known as a dedicated worker and her father, Vince McMahon, build the company into the juggernaut it is today. McMahon has not announced a timetable for her return, but WWE is hoping not to miss a beat by having somebody new take over the role Stephanie McMahon played for so long.
