Stephanie McMahon is considered to be one of the most powerful people in the WWE. She has been associated with her father’s business since she was a child. Now, she’s stepping away from her duties and WWE has already found her replacement.
According to Wrestlenomic’s Brandon Thurston, Stephanie’s responsibilities will be overseen by Nick Khan himself. Khan, who joined WWE in 2020, will step into Stephanie’s role as WWE’s Chief Brand Officer in her absence. Stephanie took the role in 2013 and has maintained a very public presence in the role since then.
Nick Khan will be taking over most of Stephanie McMahon’s duties in her absence, according to multiple people at WWE. Select business partners have already been informed.
Stephanie shocked the wrestling world when she announced that she is taking a leave of absence from WWE, effective May 20th. She posted the announcement on Twitter and LinkedIn and it immediately garnered quite a response.
“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
It was previously reported that the announcement came as a big surprise to people within the WWE since no one had any idea about it until it became public. Thurston further elaborated on Stephanie’s leave of absence.
One WWE employee told us they’d heard in recent weeks that Stephanie’s role in the company might be reduced soon, but that person didn’t take the rumor very seriously. Reasons for Stephanie’s exit aren’t clear to us, but we’ve been told working a busy schedule for many years and her husband’s health problems were factors.
Stephanie’s departure, even if it is temporary, is certainly a shocker for fans who have known her both as an on-screen talent and as a high-ranking executive for years. We’ll have to wait and see what’s next in store for Stephanie McMahon. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more!
