The Acclaimed’s Anthony Bowens is one of the rising stars in AEW who wants to make a name for themselves. Bowens last appeared on Dynamite teaming with Max Caster to take on Jurassic Express for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. Unfortunately for the Acclaimed, that match happened back in March and they have since wrestled on AEW Dark Elevation. While it looked like Bowens would make some sort of an appearance in this week’s Dynamite, a cryptic tweet from Bowens suggested he wouldn’t make it. Now it seems as if we know the reason why.

Bowens announced on Twitter that he suffered a injury during an attack after Elevation Monday. The 31-year-old had knee surgery, keeping him out of action this week.

Without getting into too much detail..bc of the attack after Elevation on Monday, I had to undergo a procedure this week to fix my knee. Story of my life..1 step forward, 2 steps back. #AEWRampage

This isn’t the first time that Bowens suffered an injury. In 2016, he suffered a concussion during a match on NXT. Bowens signed a five-year contract with AEW in November 2020. He was ranked #304 in PWI 500 in 2021.

With so much talent coming to AEW, we can only hope that Bowens still has enough time to make a splash in the company. Hopefully this injury doesn’t keep him on the shelve for too long.
