Cody Rhodes departed from AEW back in February and fans were certainly blindsided by this. Prior to his exit, Rhodes was one of the highlights of AEW television. He was significant in AEW’s growth, especially during the first couple of years. A lot of things changed for Cody during his time away from WWE, especially on his neck.
Rhodes addressed whether there has been any negative criticism in WWE over his neck tattoo during an interview with SI.com. Vince McMahon made no unfavorable comments regarding the tattoo. Cody was hoping to hear from some of his old friends, particularly Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes. In the end, WWE plans to cash in on The American Nightmare’s ink.
Vince [McMahon] hasn’t said anything [negative] about the tattoo. I’ve been waiting for some of these guys who knew me back in the day to say something, specifically Bruce [Prichard] and Michael Hayes. Even Randy [Orton] hasn’t said anything, and that was a shock to me because I wasn’t a tattoo guy and he was covered. But it’s a good thing to have.
Temporary tattoos are going to be released by WWE Shop, and people now see it as an extension of me. That’s what it is. When I was here before, everyone tried to tell me who I was. That wasn’t a bad thing—I was searching, too. Now I’m reaching my final form. That’s why I am sticking to my guns about my character, keeping it as close as possible to who I am. But I’ll promise you this—I’m not getting another one.”
Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE after six years as Rollins’ surprise opponent at WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare won a fight with his current rival on the latest episode of RAW, setting up their highly anticipated rematch.
Randy Orton, too, remained silent. Cody was taken aback because he didn’t have any tattoos and was completely covered. WWE Shop is releasing temporary tattoos, and many are seeing it as an extension of Cody Rhodes. Regardless, his neck tattoo and tremendous evolution is popular among admirers.
