AEW has changed a lot since its inception back in 2019, as the company has improved various aspects so far. The company signed many talent during its initial days but not all of them remain in AEW. Kris Statlander also commented on the non-renewal of AEW contracts as of late.
The likes of Stu Grayson, Marko Stunt and Joey Janela all left AEW after their contracts expired. This is because their contracts were not renewed. Tony Khan even previously made it clear that AEW was not going to keep everybody in the company.
While speaking on K & S WrestleFest virtual signing, Kris Statlander talked about AEW not renewing the contracts of the aforementioned stars. Statlander stated that nobody is guaranteed a job in pro wrestling.
“My thoughts on this situation [AEW talents’ contracts not being renewed] is that, you know, life happens. Sometimes, that’s just the way wrestling is. Nobody’s guaranteed a job forever in wrestling or in any position really. It sucks, but you have to learn to not dwell on situations that you don’t have control over and you just make the most of what you can do and keep moving forward.”
While it is unknown whether Joey Janela and Marko Stunt will return to AEW, the door is still open for Evil Uno to make a return in the future. Kris Statlander recently returned on AEW Rampage and replaced Hikaru Shida in the Owen Hart Tournament. We’ll have to see how she will fare in the tournament.
