Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling whose influence in the industry is far-reaching. He has done it all when it comes to being a pro wrestler and has been teaching his son Dominik a lot as well. WWE could also be planning to split them up.
After his return to the company in 2018, Mysterio eventually went on to team up with his son Dominik. The two became a huge fan-favorite in the tag team division as well.
The master of the 619 and his son even became the Smackdown Tag Team Champions last year. Mysterio also previously made it clear he never wants a father vs son storyline with Dominik
Rey Mysterio has also been absent from WWE television for almost a month now. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE could be planning on splitting up Rey and Dominik Mysterio once they return.
Rey Mysterio has of late gotten more stem cell treatments for injuries. Dominik Mysterio hasn’t been used with the idea he’s injured from Mahaan. There is at least talk of them not being put together going forward, although, without the connection to Rey, there’s really not much they can do with Dominik on the main roster. They had built to an angle some time back where Rey basically told Dominik it’s time for him to go on his own, and then it was promptly forgotten. And they’ve done a number of angles building to a split that were then dropped, so it appears when it comes to them, ideas are started and dropped all the time.
It remains to be seen when the Master of the 619 will be able to make his return to WWE television. Should they get split up in the end, we’ll have to see whether WWE will have proper plans for both of them. Fans may or may not like the two being split up either.
