Hikaru Shida is one of the top stars in the women’s division in AEW and one of the most talented female pro wrestlers in the world right now. She was the AEW Women’s Champion for well over a year. She also seemingly suffered an injury.

Hikaru Shida lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to Britt Baker at Double Or Nothing last year. Since then she has largely not been part of the main event scene for the women’s division.

During this week’s AEW Rampage tapings, Tony Schiavone interviewed TBS Champion Jade Cargill with The Baddies. The company then announced that Hikaru Shida is out of action. Due to this, Kris Statlander will be replacing her against Red Velvet in a first round tournament match on May 20th.

According to PW Insider, Tony Schiavone said the injury took place during Shida’s Philly Street Fight against Serena Deeb on the April 27th edition of AEW Dynamite.
