CM Punk made his triumphant return to pro wrestling during AEW Rampage: The First Dance. Fans were worried how CM Punk would fare in AEW after a seven-year hiatus from the company as well. In fact, CM Punk himself had no expectations when it came to his return.
The Second City Saint has worked hard to cement himself as one of the top stars in the company now. He has feuded with the likes of Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston, MJf and more, always delivering in his feuds.
While speaking with ComicBook.com, CM Punk talked about his run in AEW so far. Punk admitted that he had no expectations when it came to his return run in AEW.
“This run has been more than what I expected. I had expectations. They were pretty high. So far, they’ve pretty much shattered all that, and that’s just based on analytics and numbers of how well we’re doing. But the run, my run specifically, my stuff as a whole, I’ve never been happier in a wrestling ring. I’ve never, to me, been telling more fluid, better, reality-based stories. It’s been a real treat.”
CM Punk was also dragged over his recent comments about Eric Bischoff. Punk is set to face Adam Page for the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing on May 29th. It remains to be seen who will win the match.
