Drew McIntyre has certainly come a long way since his debut in WWE back in 2007. He is now one of the highlights of WWE television and truly someone the company relies on. He also opened up about his WrestleMania 35 match against Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns had relinquished his WWE Universal Title on the October 22, 2018 episode of Monday Night RAW after announcing his battle with leukemia. He returned in February 2019 after revealing his leukemia was in remission.
His first match back was against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 35, which Reigns won. While speaking with Alfonso A. Castillo of Newsday, Drew McIntyre talked about the match and explained why it was so underwhelming.
“That was my first singles match at a WrestleMania. Roman was coming back from his illness. And, as much as Roman and I wanted to have a particular kind of match and try and steal the show, that was not the story for the night. The story was showing the world that Roman Reigns was back at 100%, and he’s basically going to steamroll whoever is in his path. And unfortunately, I was in his path that night.”
Jimmy Korderas also previously said that Drew McIntyre should help elevate Roman Reigns. We’ll have to see how their feud will progress in the coming weeks.
