Malcolm Bivens was one of many who were released from their WWE NXT contract last week. This came as a shock to many as fans felt he still had a lot to accomplish in NXT. Bivens has now denied being offered a role as Omos’ manager on the main roster.
According to Fightful Select, WWE pitched Bivens name as a potential manager for Omos months ago. It is also noted that he was suggested for that role even before MVP. It seems this didn’t go their way when he refused to re-sign with the company.
WWE offered Bivens a new deal in February but he didn’t sign it, he only re-signed with the promotion last year due to the pitch of the Diamond Mine stable after not being used on TV for two years. The outlet also noted that his deal was to expire at the beginning of 2023.
In light of this news, Malcolm Bivens recently spoke during the Live At The Stand comedy special. Bivens denied that he was offered a role as Omos’ manager on the WWE main roster.
“A lot of people want to know, ‘Malcolm, what happened?’ You know what they say, there are three sides to a story. Your side, the truth, and their side. So I gotta be real, I have to…I hate to say I have to control my narrative….Here’s the truth, there are a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation. Was I offered a contract in February? Yes. Did I say no to said contract? Yes. Was I offered to be with Omos? No. No one said a word to me about managing Omos. Was I told about the main roster?
Yes. And people, they think I’m crazy, ‘Malcolm, you threw away millions, potentially, you walked away.’ Yeah. I did because I didn’t want to do it anymore. Unfortunately, I wasn’t happy. At Stand & Deliver, I had a conversation with the head writer and I told him so. Two weeks ago, I said the same thing, I told him, ‘I don’t think this was for me.’ That’s okay. Your happiness is not dictated by what people say you should do, happiness is dictated by what you think you should do. There’s a difference right?”
The NXT creative team was also blindsided by Malcolm Bivens’ WWE release. We’ll have to see what the future holds for Malcolm Bivens now that he is no longer associated with WWE.
