WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle has seen a lot of success as a pro wrestler throughout his career. HIs excellent in-ring skills and solid character work helped him rise to the top very quickly.
The Olympic Hero competed against the best of the best in the pro wrestling world. This included AJ Styles, with whom he has competed numerous times in TNA and also had a match in WWE.
They duked it out on the March 26th, 2019 episode of Friday Night Smackdown. It ended in disqualification after Randy Orton interfered and attacked Styles.
While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle talked about his match against AJ Styles. Angle admitted he was really disappointed with the match.
“The thing was, I requested this match to Vince McMahon. I had the Kurt Angle farewell tour and they allowed me to request certain matches, and I requested AJ Styles and Samoa Joe over any other WWE wrestler and I made sure I got those two. AJ and I went out there, it was three minutes and we kicked a** for three minutes. But what’re you going to do? There was no finish and it just kind of sucked. Unfortunately for AJ and I, it wasn’t the finish that we wanted.
Not the way I wanted to end my career, and Randy Orton did not get up for me on the Angle Slam. This match was so embarrassing, it showed no traces of the real me. It was like the old beat-up Kurt Angle with the quad injury, no finish, it was just horrible.”
Kurt Angle also recently stated that he feels pro wrestling has lost its psychology. It remains to be seen whether Angle will end up making his way to WWE somewhere down the line or not.
