WWE has introduced several different designs of the company’s Championship belts, over the last decades. Among the many classic belts that are not in use today, is the iconic Winged Eagle Championship. In a recent interview, Cody Rhodes teased about bringing it back.

The Winged Eagle design was seen in use for the most of 1990s and has been held by several of WWE’s top stars since its inception in 1998. It’s no surprise why Rhodes fascinates it so much.

Rhodes appeared on the latest episode of WWE After the Bell with Corey Graves and spoke about bringing classic sets back. He wants the classic belts to be used in talk segments as well.

“Those need to be brought back to wrestling, by the way, the classic sets. I feel like if you have a talk segment, you need a bad set. That’s the definition of it.”

Cody Rhodes brought back the classic version of the Intercontinental Championship during his previous run in WWE. Now he wants to do the same again with the Winged Eagle belt, if he wins the WWE Championship.

“I did do that once with the Intercontinental title, it took a lot of work but it was the right call once we got there. I think there’s a particular design of the WWE Championship that people are very fond of. I’d say hypothetically it really would be something to achieve the ultimate industry dream, being the best of the best ever in terms of that moment in time, and then perhaps give it a fresh coat of paint with the winged eagle [title]. That would just be something, that’s all I can really say.”

However, this is not the first time he has teased the classic belt, he posted about it a week back or so on his social media. This means he is serious about this and now fans can’t wait to see him pull this off when he wins the WWE Championship.
