Malcolm Bivens was released from his WWE NXT contract yesterday. While he might have not intended to stay with the company for long. the company reportedly planned to put him on the main roster.
According to Fightful Select, WWE pitched Bivens name as a potential manager for Omos months ago. It is also noted that he was suggested for that role even before MVP. It seems this didn’t go their way when he refused to re-sign with the company.
WWE offered Bivens a new deal in February but he didn’t sign it, he only re-signed with the promotion last year due to the pitch of the Diamond Mine stable after not being used on TV for two years. The outlet also noted that his deal was to expire at the beginning of 2023.
WWE had tentative main roster plans for Malcolm Bivens, and had pitched his name as a potential manager for Omos months ago, before MVP was solidified as the direction. In addition, we’re told LA Knight was considered for the spot. However, when presented a new, restructured contract, Bivens passed on it after re-signing last year. We’re told that his deal was set to expire towards the beginning of 2023. Despite the main roster pitches, Bivens was said to have no desire to re-sign.
As pointed out earlier, he never had intentions to stay with WWE, despite the company’s main roster plans. However, it is unknown if he was informed about those pitches beforehand.
If Bivens, now again Stokely Hathaway had re-signed with WWE in February when they offered him that deal. He would not have been on the list of recent NXT roster cuts. It remains to be seen how he pursues his career following his WWE exit.
