WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is regarded as one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever competed inside the squared circle. However, he wasn’t always as successful as Austin made his WWE debut as the Ringmaster. Ric Flair also discussed Steve Austin’s rise to the top recently.
Steve Austin ushered in the Attitude Era and became the face of the company. His feuds with the likes of The Rock, Triple H and more helped define a generation.
While speaking on the Wooooo Nation Uncensored Podcast, Mark Madden asked Flair, “Was Steve the most over guy ever within a short time frame cut short because of injury?” Ric Flair responded, “Yes, in my opinion, I don’t think it’s amazing to say at all. I don’t know.”
Ric Flair was then asked where Vince McMahon made Steve Austin or not. Ric Flair said that Steve Austin became the biggest star in the Attitude Era himself.
I don’t think anybody made Steve. I think Steve made himself, but Vince was the perfect. And I mean, for a guy that never wrestled. Never did anything and that. Vince had that promo and he has it until to this day and that’s a gift. And I mean we all want to think that you just if you’re able to rattle us off and you guys write it down, you gotta feel it.”
Steve Austin had a solid match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month. We will have to wait and see when Austin will make his return to WWE television.
