Gunther had a stellar run in NXT UK as he became the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE as he held the NXT UK Title for a record 870 days. He would lose the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36.
Gunther spent some time in NXT 2.0 as part of Imperium as well. However, Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser made their main roster debut on Friday Night Smackdown this month.
Due to this, both of them left behind Fabian Aichner in NXT. Imperium had officially split up because of this. While speaking with Tom Campbell for Cultaholic, Gunther admitted that the Imperium split was rough for his teammates. He added that they must remain positive despite it.
“Obviously for (Aichner) and Ludwig it was a little bit of a rough few days because they worked so hard together for so many years and stuff like that, and now everybody has to go their own way a little bit.
But you’ve got to look forward and stay positive about things. It’s a new challenge for Ludwig and me but also for Fabian, it’s going to be a new challenge for whatever he’s going to do going forward.”
We will have to wait and see how Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser will fare on the main roster. Fans certainly have a lot of expectations from them.
