Sonya Deville returned to WWE television back in January of 2020 in a non-wrestling role. Since then, Deville has been a highlight of WWE RAW and Friday Night Smackdown alongside Adam Pearce as an official.
Sonya Deville was involved in a horrific incident back on August 16, 2020. A man named Philip Thomas II was stalking her online for several years. He tried to kidnap Deville, which he had been planning on doing for the past 8 months. He broke into her home with the intention of holding her hostage.
The man was arrested in the case and charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. A temporary protection injunction was also filed, which prevents Thomas from going anywhere near Deville and her property.
While speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Sonya Deville talked about the stalker incident. Deville revealed that she was terrified of going home after all that happened.
“It’s been a crazy ride and you never know something like that is gonna happen until it happens. And you don’t know how you’re gonna feel about something like that happening until it happens. I’ll just say, the day of, I was like, ‘Oh, everything’s fine. I’m gonna go sleep in my house tonight.’ And then by the time nightfall came I was – like, couldn’t even drive to the neighborhood. So, it’s crazy.”
Sonya Deville challenged Bianca Belair for the RAW Women’s Championship on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Deville lost the match after she hit Belair with a steel chair. It remains to be seen what the company has planned for Deville.
