John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and carried the company to the best of his abilities for over a decade. He was the face of the company and Cena worked very hard to maintain his top position as well. His championship record was also called more prestigious than Ric Flair’s.

John Cena’s record as a 16-time World Champion immediately put him on the same level as Ric Flair for many. Cena tied the record after beating AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble in 2017.

While speaking on the latest  Busted Open Radio podcast, Bully Ray said that Cena’s accomplishments have come in WWE. While Flair’s have come from various promotions. Ray said that Cena’s record is more prestigious than Ric Flair’s for that reason.

“John Cena has the highest number of WWE World Heavyweight Championships. Since it is the same number, Cena is at 16 WWE World Heavyweight Championships and Ric Flair is at 16 total World Heavyweight Championships, WWE and other companies included, Cena’s record holds more water to me. And that’s who we should be talking about when it comes to Randy Orton breaking a record.”
