‘Hangman’ Adam Page is on a collision course with CM Punk over the AEW World Championship. Page completed a years-long storyline that culminated with him defeating Kenny Omega at Full Gear in November. The storyline between Page and Punk will have to wait a week before it advances, as Hangman announced he has contracted COVID.
AEW has been slowly building to the title feud with brief staredowns and Punk claiming that he is gunning for the championship. Page has defended the belt in several brutal matches. Hangman’s latest battle has nothing to do with what’s going on inside the ring.
Page took to social media to announce that he will not be at tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Philadelphia. The reason is that he’s dealing with COVID-19. The AEW champion took a non-traditional route when announcing his illness.
“dynomite is tonight at 8pm on tbs but i will not be on there because my face is full of covid snot, sorry. please enjoy regardless.”
AEW fans will still have plenty to look forward to despite the champ being absent. FTR will go head to head for the first time and the TNT Championship will be on the line in a ladder match. You can check out the full card below.
Dynamite kicks off at 8 PM on TBS. It looks like another packed show, even though the champ won’t be in the house. If you’re unable to watch, stick with Ringside News for full results as they happen. Get well soon, Hangman!
