Becky Lynch’s growth as a WWE Superstar over the years is something that certainly took time. Lynch worked the hardest she ever has in order to become the megastar that she is today. Mick Foley also recalled how frustrated Becky Lynch was at one point in time.
Becky Lynch turned heel for the first time after she attacked Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2018. This led to her winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship and finally debuting ‘The Man’ gimmick.
While speaking with Renee Paquette and former UFC Champion Miesha Tate on the podcast, Throwing Down, Mick Foley recalled a conversation he had with Becky Lynch prior to her becoming a huge star. Foley recalled how Lynch was simply frustrated.
“Before Becky became The Man, she was quite frustrated and I remember talking to her on the phone and I was not aware that the women started becoming far better compensated in the modern era. I was telling Becky, you know don’t rule out the independents you might feel like a good weight is off your shoulders.
I said ‘hey I’d never enquire or rarely about money, but you don’t mind giving me a ball park figure as to what you make’, and as soon as she told me I said,’wow, you gotta stay,’. I was so happy that you know the finances have picked up and I remember the advice that I gave here was be to patient and be ready.”
Becky Lynch returned on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW and immediately began a feud with a returning Asuka. We’ll have to see how their feud will be booked in the coming weeks.
