Samoa Joe made his surprise return to Ring of Honor at the recent Supercard of Honor PPV. It was announced shortly after that Joe had signed with AEW. Joe went on to defeat Minoru Suzuki to become the ROH TV champion, and fans are excited to see what’s next.
One of those fans also happens to be a WWE Hall of Famer. Kurt Angle talked about Joe’s return to the squared circle on the latest Kurt Angle Show. The Olympic gold medalist is excited to see what his old TNA rival can do.
“I think it’s awesome. Samoa Joe, I knew he would come back eventually. He’s not going to retire yet, this guy still has some life left in him and I’m looking forward to seeing what he has to offer to this day…
For TNA in particular, because I had a better cage match in WWE with Chris Benoit, but with TNA, I would say Samoa Joe was my favorite match because it was an MMA-style match. Jeff’s was an immediate second.”
WWE shocked everybody when they released Samoa Joe during the rebrand to NXT 2.0. Joe was the reigning NXT champ at the time and was forced to relinquish the title. Now, he has been unleashed on both AEW and ROH.
Kurt Angle is looking forward to seeing what Joe will bring to Tony Khan’s companies. Angle knows full well what Samoa Joe is capable of in the ring. If the booking and matchups are right, fans are in for a treat.
