The tapings that took place on Thursday were held at the BT Sport Studio in London. A triple threat match for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships took place. Moustache Mountain defended against Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith and Die Familie.
The titles were won by Carter and Smith, according to Wrestling Inc. Tyler Bate & Trent Seven, AKA Moustache Mountain, and were the heavy favorites going into the match. Afterwords, Trent Seven turned on Bate after faking his retirement.
Carter and Smith had unsuccessfully challenged Moustache Mountain twice for the titles. On the episode that aired this week, Seven and Bate won a 2 out of 3 falls match to defend. The rivalry has now culminated in a title change.
WWE has teased a split between Trent Seven and Tyler Bate for some time. Bate has been portrayed as unhappy about Trent cheating to win. Seven used the ropes for leverage to get the pinfall in the successful defense that just aired.
WWE NXT UK now has a major singles blood feud to build up to. Trent Seven and Tyler Bate are both excellent performers and very popular with the UK crowd. Time will tell what’s next for the pair, but it looks like they are headed for a showdown at some point shortly.
