AEW has been building to a feud between The Elite and Adam Cole’s Super Elite since the moment Cole arrived in the company. Kenny Omega also has a long history with New Japan Pro Wrestling. With the announcement of the AEW – New Japan “Forbidden Door” pay-per-view, fans have been wondering if The Cleaner will be back in time to get all of those storylines in motion.

Omega took some time off from AEW after dropping the world title to Hangman Adam Page. Kenny needed multiple surgeries, each with varying recovery times. While he is closer than before to a comeback, it doesn’t look like the former AEW champion will be ready for the upcoming pay-per-view in Las Vegas.

Dave Meltzer discussed Kenny Omega’s status on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. With everything going on that Kenny could be featured in, he still doesn’t expect him to be fully recovered by May. Omega might show up to set something up for the future, but wrestling doesn’t seem likely.

“I mean, at some point, we know Bucks and Fish and O’Reilly are going to be feuding and it’ll end up being Cole, Fish, and O’Reilly and Young Bucks and Kenny Omega when Kenny Omega comes back.

I don’t know where Omega is as far as recovery on everything, but I don’t think he’s going to make the May pay-per-view. I don’t know that. Last I heard, it didn’t sound promising for May. So, what I think he would do is, maybe if Okada is champion or if Okada wins even if he’s not champion, on that show, that pay-per-view show… And I don’t know that Okada’s on the show.”

Kenny Omega is inching his way back towards competing in the squared circle. Fans have had to show some patience as he works through a laundry list of ailments. They might have to wait a little bit longer than May to see Kenny lace up the boots once more.
