Kacy Catanzaro Explains Reason For Her Name Change In WWE NXT 2.0

Kacy Catanzaro revealed the reason for her new WWE character in a YouTube video released after last night’s episode of NXT 2.0. It was reported earlier that WWE was renaming Kacy as “Katana Chance.” That new moniker was explained in the WWE digital exclusive.

Katana Chance and tag team partner Kayden Carter were shown in a backstage segment where they had a verbal back and forth with Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz. Chance explained the name change as the two teams trash-talked one another. It sounds like Katana Chance is just a harder-partying version of Kacy.

“Everyone knows me as Kacy Catanzaro, and that is me. But there are parts of me that people haven’t seen, except maybe Kayden, where I get to do what I want. And that’s like shooting back straight whiskey and letting loose. And Kayden isn’t the only one that can party and shake a little something. That is Katana Chance. And that is the energy that I’ll be bringing to NXT from now on.”

The two teams are vying to rise to the top of the NXT women’s tag division and earn a shot at Toxic Attraction. They will face off on next week’s episode of NXT. It will be Katana Chance’s first bout with the new name.

Name changes have been all the rage in NXT recently. Several main roster call-ups also received new ring names. Gunther, Butch, Theory, Raquel Rodriguez, and several others all got new character names after an edict from Vince McMahon.

We will have to wait and see if Kacy Catanzaro can find success as Katana Chance. Next week’s NXT 2.0 will be her first opportunity to show off the new attitude. A victory over Leon and Feroz would go a long way towards solidifying Katana Chance and Kayden Carter as legitimate title contenders.
