AEW Dynamite Results for April 20, 2022

It’s Wednesday and you know what that means. AEW Dynamite will go down tonight and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage.

JR welcomes us to the show and the first man out tonight is CM Punk! Huge “CM Punk” chants for Punk. Dustin Rhodes makes his entrance next.

CM Punk vs. Dustin Rhodes

“CM Punk” chants, both men shake hands. Lock up, clean break. Lock up, Rhodes wrings the arm, shoulder tackle, into an armdrag, Punk gets a hip toss, both men evenly matched. Punk with a headlock takeover, Rhodes gets a leg scissor. Punk counters into a Bow and Arrow Stretch, Punk gets a near fall. Rhodes with an armdrag, Punk picks the ankle into a leg submission, Punk covers, 2 count.

Rhodes drops Punk on the ropes, chops in the corner, Punk gets a high boot, Rhodes escapes a GTS, Rhodes with a roll up, 2 count. Rhodes gets an armdrag into an armbar. Punk ducks under a Rhodes crossbody and Rhodes crashes to the outside.

Back in the ring, Rhodes with a kick but Punk takes advantage of Rhodes knee injury. Punk works over Rhodes’ knee. Punk with elbows to the knee.

Punk sweeps Rhodes’ legs on the apron. Rhodes kicks Punk into the ring post, then drops Punk on the apron. Both men trade strikes, Rhodes with a back body drop. Rhodes with 10 strikes in the corner, Rhodes favours his knee as he jumps down from the turnbuckles. Punk misses the running knee strike, Rhodes hits the Code Red, cover, 2 count.

Punk goes for the GTS but Rhodes escapes, Rhodes with an uppercut, powerslam, cover, 2 count. Rhodes goes for CrossRhodes, Punk escapes and hits a chock block. Punk locks in a figure 4, Rhodes shoulders a down for a 2 count. Both men trade strikes while still in the Figure 4. Rhodes turns over, reversing the pressure of the Figure 4. Punk gets to the ropes.

Punk goes for a springboard but Rhodes hits a right hand, Rhodes hits the CrossRhodes, then hits a Piledriver, cover, 2 count. Rhodes with right hands, Punk with a roundhouse kick, goes for the GTS, Rhodes escapes, Punk gets Rhodes’ shoulders down, cover, 1, 2, 3!

WINNER: CM Punk!

Rhodes shows respect to Punk and they hug and shakes hands. Rhodes raises Punk’s arm. Punk once again gestures for the Championship.

Hangman Page’s music hits! Page appears on the ramp and stares down Punk. Punk leaves and Page raise his championship.

Wardlow arrives at the arena. Mark Sterling appears with security and tells Wardlow from now on security will escort Wardlow to his broom closet/locker room and Wardlow must be handcuffs. Sterling says he has a message from MJF. “Eat Pig.”

Bryan Danielson’s music hits! Wheeler Yuta makes his entrance next, accompanied by William Regal, then Jon Moxley makes his entrance through the crowd. Regal joins commentary. Moxley, Danielson and Yuta attack their opponents before the bell.

The Blackpool Combat Club vs. Lee Moriarty, Dante Martin & Brock Anderson

The match breaks down with Yuta and Martin. Yuta tags in Danielson, Danielson with chops in the corner, then a running boot. Martin escapes Danielson’s strikes and hits a dropkick. Martin with a dropkick to Moxley. Anderson tags in, huge clothesline to Moxley. Anderson with strikes in the corner. Moxley with a Half and Half Suplex.

Moxley with an armbar to Anderson, right hands, Anderson hits a Double A Spinebuster! Danielson tags in, Moriarty tags in, Moriarty with a high boot, drops Yuta, flying crossbody to Danielson. Moriarty with high knees, Danielson with hard strikes, Moriarty with a running back elbow, into a Back Suplex, cover, 2 count. Moriarty with a Boarder City Stretch, Danielson gets a suplex. Martin tags in and hits a missile dropkick.

Martin hits a Springboard Splash to the outside on Moxley. Moxley catches Martin into a Choke, Moriarty tries to break it up but Moxley doesn’t let go. All 3 BCC members with hammer blows to their opponents. Moxley hits the Paradigm Shift on Martin, cover, 1, 2, 3!

The Undisputed Elite are backstage, O’Reilly asks what happened to the Bucks, were are all their expensive gear? O’Reilly says he will beat Jungle Boy tonight. Cole says as a team they cannot be stopped. Next week they will do an Undisputed Elite 10 Man Open Challenge. The Bucks put the Elite in undisputed Elite. Think about it.

Tony Schiavone is on the stage, he introduces Tony Khan! Khan says he has a huge announcement, he introduces the president of NJPW! Adam Cole interrupts, and says he should make the announcement as one of the biggest stars who ever wrestling in New Japan. On June 26, AEW and NJPW present “Forbidden Door” a cross promotional event. He will face Ishii on Rampage. He has a special friend who wants to come out and say hello.

Switchblade Jay White makes his entrance! White gets the mic from Khan, White says its fitting he is here, as the last time NJPW held a joint event, he sold out MSG. White says it isn’t about New Japan or AEW, its about the Undisputed Elite and Bullet Club. “It is still our era.”

Jade Carghill, Red Velvet and Keira Hogan are bragging backstage, Jade will defend the TBS Championship on Rampage against Marina Shafir. Jade says “See you on Friday, bitch.”

The Butcher makes his entrance. MJF appears from the press box, he says he doesn’t care if they boo him, he’s seen who they cheer. Wardlow is a nobody just like all of you. Since Wardlow is a nobody he will come out to no music. Wardlow makes his entrance handcuffed, flanked by a huge amount of security. Security unlock Wardlow’s cuffs.

Wardlow vs. The Butcher

Both men collide with shoulder tackles, Butcher with a right hand, Wardlow retaliates. Both men trade blows, Butcher bites Wardlow, headbutts in the corner, Wardlow with shoulder tackles. sending Butcher out of the ring. Butcher gets steel chairs from under the ring, the ref clears them from the ring. Butcher throws Wardlow into the ring apron, then the barricade.

Wardlow throws Butcher into the ringpost. Butcher drives Wardlow spine first into the apron, then hits a backdrop on the apron. Back in the ring, Butcher hits a clothesline, the hits an ugly looking Powerbomb, cover, Wardlow kicks out at 1. Wardlow hits his own Powerbomb! Wardlow hits another Powerbomb, then a 3rd, then a 4th! Wardlow covers, 1, 2, 3!

WINNER: Wardlow!

MJF’s security appears and handcuffs him once again. Security escorts Wardlow to the back.

Eddie Kingston is backstage, he says on Rampage he and Garcia nobody else will be allowed in the building. everything he does to Garcia he will do to Jericho. He will have fun and when all is said and done, Garcia’s family wont recognise him.

Kyle O’Reilly makes his entrance. Jungle Boy is out next, accompanied by Luchasaurus and Christian Cage.

Lock up, Jungle Boy picks the ankle, O’Reilly escapes. Jungle Boy with a monkey flip, O’Reilly gets a cover, 1 count. Jungle Boy with a strike, into an armdrag but O’Reilly counters into a cross armbreaker, Jungle Boy gets to the ropes. O’Reilly with kicks in the corner.

Jungle Boy hits a dropkick, chops to O’Reilly, O’Reilly gets a hammerlock, into a trip driving slam, cover, 2 count. O’Reilly gets an wristlock, Jungle Boy with a knee, O’Reilly into an armbreaker, Jungle with a roundhouse kick, O’Reilly with a knee strike, into 3 butterfly suplexes.

Jungle Boy kicks his way out of a leg submission, Jungle boy with chops and elbow strikes, running forearms, O’Reilly with a knee to the back. Jungle Boy with hammering blows in the corner. Jungle Boy with stomps, running dropkick in the corner. Jungle Boy misses a running forearm, O’Reilly with strikes, Jungle Boy hits a superkick, rollup, 2 count. O’Reilly gets an Ankle Lock, Jungle Boy reverses into a Snaretrap! O’Reilly crawls to the ropes.

O’Reilly hits a Superplex, Jungle catches O’Reilly in a cover, 2 count. O’Reilly with a Brainbuster, O’Reilly goes to the top, diving knee drop, cover, 1, 2, 3!

Christian Cage walks down the ramp, Jungle Boys mouths “I’m Sorry.” Christian hugs him and walks him to the back.

MJF says Butcher didn’t get the job done, but there is more where that came from. Much like a snake, when he decide who is his prey, all it takes is one bite. MJF gives an envelope of money to Jake the Snake Roberts. Roberts says he chase money and when the time is right, he will settle this. Lance Archer appears and says he doesn’t need money, everybody dies.

Hook makes his entrance! Anthony Henry is already in the ring.

Hook picks the ankle, Henry gets to the ropes. Hook with strikes in the corner, takedown, overhead throw. Hook with a lariat to the back of the head, into crossface strikes. Danhausen appears and tries to curse Hook. Hook continues the corssfaces then locks in Redrum. Henry taps out!

WINNER: Hook!

Danhausen gets a mic and says he had enough of this. If Hook wont be curse by Danhausen, he will fight Danhausen! Hook walks away.

Tony Schiavone is with Scorpio Sky and Kazarian. Kaz addresses Sammy before Sky interrupts. Sky says he’s had a lot of time to reflect, none of it would be possible if it wasn’t for Kaz. A long time ago he relied on Kaz, he knows Kaz wants to be TNT Champion, but he needs to win it first. Kaz says he’s always had Sky’s back, they shake hands.

Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti are in the ring. Huge boos, Sammy says he loves this, he’s on top of the world, TNT Champion for the 3rd time. Calls Tay the love of his life. HE loves Tay and everybody who cheers for him. He will give them his everything forever. As for the rest of you, my girlfriend is hotter than yours, you have one option and that option is to “Be Mad.”

Scorpio Sky appears and says that’s the way it is now? Screw you Sammy. Page gets a mic and says shut up, nobody came here to hear Sammy speak, the only reason the Men of the Year aren’t putting stiches in the face is because Lambert says now isn’t the time. Lambert says youth is wasted on the young. Sammy is the perfect example of that. Lambert calls Sammy a high school douchebag, you give Sky his rematch or these two men will give the the pounding your girlfriends dreams about.

Sammy says he doesn’t give a shit about Lamberts dead grandpa. Sammy says he will give them the rematch if Lambert gives them the mixed match. Sammy says next week will be a ladder match.

Danielle Kamela (the former Vanessa Bourne) makes her entrance. Out next, making her AEW return is Britt Baker! Two of the The Pittsburgh Steelers accompany her to the ring.

Kamela plays to the crowd, lock up, Kamela with a belly to belly takedown. Baker with a snapmare, cover, 1 count. Baker with another rollup, 2 count. Baker with a butterfly suplex.

Kamela steals a Steelers towel and chokes Baker with it. Baker with a takedown and a flurry of strikes. Baker with a big elbow strike and more strikes in the corner. Baker hits a Slingblade. Baker hits a Superkick, then hits a Swinging Neckbreaker. Baker hits a Curbstomp, gets her glove from one of the Steelers, and locks in Lockjaw, Kamela taps out.

WINNER: Britt Baker!

Baker says the women’s division is a disaster without her. Soho needs to runaway. Toni Storm has Hayter in the first round and Toni thought cake in the face was bad, Hayter will wipe the floor with her and make her leave this company too. The only people who want to see Jade Carghill in this ring are the ones she paid. Baddie can sit down because she is the baddest bitch on the block, and she is you future Owen Hart tournament winner, Dr Britt Baker DMD!

Coffin Match: Andrade El Idolo vs. Darby Allin

Blade tries to interfere, Darby chases him off with the skateboard, Mark Quen attacks Darby, the AFO helping Andrade. Andrade with stomps to Darby. Darby fights off the Blade and Quen with the skateboard, Andrade throws him into the barricade. Blade and Quen stomps on Darby in the crowd. Sting appears from out fo nowhere, dressed as himself and attacks Blade and Quen. Sting brawls with the two men through the crowd.

Andrade and Darby also brawl up into the crowd. Que pokes Sting in the eye, Blade hands him a chair and he slams the chair against Sting to little effect, Sting throws him off the balcony! Sting climbs up the balcony and hits a diving crossbody onto the AFO!

Andrade goes for the double knees but Darby throws a chair at him. Darby hits a Code Red! Darby hits a Coffin Drop onto Andrade but Andrade catches him and hits a suplex on the outside! Andrade with a slap, Andrade throws Darby in the Coffin, Darby blocks the lid from being closes, the lid is lines with thumbtacks. Andrade carries Darby up the ramp in a suplex position then hits a suplex on the stage.

Andrade hits a suplex on the steel grate on the stage. Andrade drags Darby back down to the Coffin. Andrade throws Darby into the steel steps, then plants him on the apron. Andrade kicks the Coffin door off. Andrade carries Darby up to the apron, Darby with elbows to the face, and hits a Stunner over the ropes. Darby hits a tope Suicida and both men fall into the Coffin! Darby gets out and tries to close the lid, Jose runs down and blocks it attacking Darby.

Jose goes for a Powerbomb, Darby slams him into the tack filled Coffin lid, then Darby closes the Coffin to get the victory!

WINNER: Darby Allin!

Sting walks down to celebrate with Darby. Darby Allin and Sting celebrate in the ring, the Hardys appear on the ramp and do the Delete hand gesture as Dynamite goes off the air!
