Adam Cole’s contributions to NXT after making his debut back in 2017 cannot be understated. He competed in several of the brand’s best matches and helped shape NXT for 4 years. He explained the importance of not burning bridges with WWE after his exit as well.
Adam Cole was done with NXT after TakeOver 36 and shortly after that, Adam Cole’s WWE contract also expired, making him a free agent. Cole chose to sign with AEW and the rest is now history.
While speaking to Fightful, Adam Cole was asked if leaving WWE on good terms was important for him. Cole revealed that it was definitely important and explained why he didn’t want to leave WWE on a sour note.
“That meant a lot to me and not just because it’s WWE, you know, of course you want to leave a good impression with a company like that but more importantly, again going off of what we just touched on, I had formed legitimate relationships with these people not just professionally but personally. I mean these are people that I was with all the time so not only do I really look up to them and admire a lot of them, but I looked at a lot of them as friends and the last thing that I wanted was for them to have a sour taste in their mouth from anything that I did and honest to God, I owe them so many of them, so much, so for me it was just such a no brainer to do things the right way and do things professionally.”
Cody Rhodes returned to WWE after a run in AEW. You never know who might follow that. Adam Cole also really wants to face off against CM Punk in AEW. We’ll have to wait and see what is next in store for Adam Cole, now that his feud with Adam Page is done with. You can also never rule out WWE, because that bridge is far from burned for him.
