Bianca Belair won the WWE Raw Women’s Championship from Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38. Since then, The EST has needed some fresh opponents to defend the title against. On last night’s Raw, Sonya Deville announced that she would be challenging Bianca for the championship.
Raw also saw Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley lose another opportunity at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. After the match, Liv tried to talk it out. Rhea blamed Morgan for the loss and eventually attacked her, splitting up the team.
Rhea’s heel turn and move to the singles division sets up an interesting future matchup. Ripley may be on a collision course with Bianca Belair for WrestleMania Backlash. Dave Meltzer discussed the turn on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.
“With Ripley, her being heel right now makes sense because Bianca Belair’s a babyface. She’s got one opponent which is Becky Lynch. They don’t want to go back to that right away.
That’s why they’re doing Sonya Deville right now. If you notice, the Sonya Deville thing was supposed to be on the pay-per-view and they moved it up a couple weeks to be on TV next week. So, maybe that’s to move Rhea Ripley into that spot sooner. But, Rhea Ripley right now, because of Bianca Belair and everything like that, she should be a heel right now.”
WWE doesn’t want to keep running back the Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair match. For now, Sonya Deville and Rhea Ripley look to be the top heel challengers. We will have to wait and see what it takes for Big Time Becks to get back into the mix.
