Matt Cardona was known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE as he worked hard to establish himself in the company. Cardona was insanely over in WWE at one point in time, but he never quite reached the top of the mountain. Cardona also trolled Vince McMahon recently.
The former WWE Superstar was not used to the best of his abilities until his release as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts in 2020. Cardona truly reinvented himself after his release as well.
He has made his mark in promotions such as Impact Wrestling, GCW and NWA, among others. Cardona has managed to win several championships since then. Cardona took to Twitter and uploaded a photo of himself holding 7 titles. He reflected on how much he accomplished after his WWE release.
He included a text graphic that told his story. It was two years ago that WWE release him. The company didn’t fire anyone this year on April 15th, but Cardona is proof that leaving WWE isn’t the end of the road.
2 years ago…April 15, 2020…1 was released by WWE. It needed to happen. It was one of the best things that ever happened in my career and in my life. These past 2 years have been incredible. My goal was never to prove anybody wrong. I wanted to prove my fans and myself right…and I have. And I will continue to do so. I’m Still Here and I’m Alwayz Ready!
While speaking on The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, Matt Cardona revealed that he sent that photo of himself holding 7 titles to Vince McMahon.
“And speaking of Ultimo [Dragon], I recreated that photo and sent it to Vince McMahon. Well, by the time this comes out, I did.”
Matt Cardona has truly carved his path after his WWE release and fans have a newfound respect for him now. We’ll have to see what is next in store for Cardona in the independent circuit.
