Ruby Soho was part of a previous batch of releases from WWE last year. Many fans believed the release was the best thing for her career. Months later, that belief is currently under question.
Ruby Soho made her debut at AEW All Out, much to the delight of fans all around the world. However, she has not been able to do all that much, despite competing for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Ruby Soho earned the right to participate in the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament after defeating Robyn Renegade in a tournament qualifier on AEW Rampage this week.
While speaking on his most recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that Renegade was not the originally planned opponent. This is because AQA was going to be her opponent but plans changed.
“I also really like AQA, who is another wrestler [from] down here in Texas, and honestly I wanted to give her an opportunity and an Owen qualifier. I had looked at doing Ruby vs. AQA last week and AQA’s been sick so I hadn’t been able to get her in the mix.”
Soho will be joining Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm as entrants in the tournament. We’ll have to see who will end up winning the tournament.
