John Cena ended his last stint with WWE and he didn’t give a lot of clues about when he will be back. While his itinerary is loaded, Cena will always have some time for WWE. He must make that time, because Cena is still under contract.

A report came out yesterday saying that John Cena is being discussed for a return in June. While that might happen, WWE hasn’t started dropping any kind of clues that is in the pipeline just yet.

Ringside News asked around about John Cena’s possible return this Summer. We were told that “Cena is always on call.” That being considered, to say that Cena has been “discussed for a June return” is misleading.

We were told that “Cena is always on call,” and that prompted an immediate follow-up question for more clarification. The current situation is that “Cena is available to WWE, under contract to WWE for several more years.” That means Vince McMahon’s company can book him, but it also means they can call him in a pinch.

We were given one extreme example of a situation where WWE might need to call Cena at the last minute, and they would be fully within the scope of their contract to do so.

If Brock or Roman got hurt or got COVID the week of Mania, they could plug in Cena into the main event on very short notice. Cena is always available in case of emergency to WWE.

While it’s possible that WWE can call Cena in for this kind of reason, it’s not likely because the company usually has plenty of options in a pinch. John Cena will always have a big name that can draw fans for WWE events. He is also incredibly busy. The 16x World Champion will eventually return to WWE, and it turns out that he doesn’t need a whole lot of notice to make that happen.
