Chris Benoit was one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever stepped foot inside the squared circle. He made his mark all over the world in various pro wrestling companies. There is a reason why Vince McMahon never saw him as a top guy by the looks of it.

Chris Benoit worked very hard to finally make it to the top of the mountain in WWE. He defeated Triple H and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 20 to win the World Heavyweight Championship in a feel-good moment for fans and peers alike.

However, his reign as the champion did not last long at all. While speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross was asked why Vince McMahon never saw Chris Benoit as a top guy in WWE. Ross said that Benoit was far too bland.

”We talked about Benoit, in Vince’s eyes, being bland. Too bland to be a the torchbearer.”

Ross added that one of the reasons for McMahon not seeing Benoit as a top guy was due to him being too raw and real. Benoit’s legacy was tarnished after his murder-suicide back in 2007, but fans will always remember how great of a pro wrestler he was.
