Brock Lesnar dropped the WWE Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38 in a title unification bout. Lesnar has not been featured on WWE television since that historic main event. Brock was still heavily featured in the advertisement for the upcoming WrestleMania Backlash premium live event.
The Events page on WWE.com now shows that Brock Lesnar has been removed from the promotion for the event. The change occurred earlier this week. The venue’s website still lists Brock Lesnar in its promotional material. Brock was previously listed on the page for Backlash.
Ringside News exclusively reported that Vince McMahon was not talking about Brock Lesnar’s status. That lines up with the fact that Brock has been removed from WWE’s promotion for the event. McMahon refused to tell staffers what was going on with Lesnar.
Many fans expected Lesnar to have a return match with Roman Reigns at Backlash. This could be a sign that it won’t happen. It could also mean that WWE has some sort of surprise planned.
Backlash is set for May 8th at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Thus far, only two matches have been announced officially by WWE. Those are Cody Rhodes vs Seth Rollins and an I Quit match between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
The situation with Brock Lesnar at Backlash is now less clear than ever. We will have to wait and see if this means that Brock won’t appear at the show. Thus far, there is no sign of any sort of build or storyline for The Beast.
