Earlier last year, Lacey Evans engaged in a feud with Charlotte Flair. It saw Evans even get into a romance storyline with Charlotte Flair’s father Ric Flair. WWE was also given props for Lacey Evans’ new gimmick.

It was previously reported that Evans was going to return on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown. Despite her denying this fact, that is exactly what happened in the end.

Lacey Evans made her return last week to the blue brand, where she was no longer the Southern Belle. She talked about her real-life story and growing up with a single mother.

While speaking on the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray gave huge props to WWE for repackaging Lacey Evans and using her real-life story.

“I loved what I heard from Lacey last night [on SmackDown] because this is what I wanted from the beginning. I know they gave her a gimmick-y character when she made her way to the main roster. They gave her the whole ‘Southern Belle’ and the accent, the 50s style pin-up model. But when you force-feed someone down my throat like a Lacey Evans, you want me to hate a single mom who is also a marine. I’m sorry, she was raised by a single mom, Lacey, in her own right is a mom and she was a Marine also.

When I know that story – and the WWE has told us little bits of that story in the past, I can’t hate a person, especially a Marine. In my eyes, they are on a good track with her

We will have to wait and see when Lacey Evans will make her in-ring return, as fans are certainly glad to see her back on WWE television after so long.
