Tommaso Ciampa was a major part of Triple H’s NXT. Ciampa was involved in a memorable rivalry with former NXT star and DIY partner Johnny Gargano. Then, WWE repacked NXT into NXT 2.0 and it became evident that Ciampa’s days on the yellow brand were numbered.

Though Ciampa retained the NXT title against Bron Breakker, he ultimately lost the title to the NXT 2.0 standout at New Year’s Evil on January 4. Ciampa unsuccessfully challenged for the title at NXT: Roadblock. His farewell match for the yellow brand took place at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.
Ciampa made his main roster debut during tonight’s episode of RAW. The former NXT champion was introduced to the crowd during a backstage segment. He was interrupted by Elias’s younger brother Ezekiel. Ciampa later told an irate Kevin Owens that he’d mistaken Ezekiel for Elias.
WWE taped Main Event matches prior to tonight’s RAW. Ciampa wrestled in one of the matches that would air on this week’s episode of Main Event. According to PW Insider, Ciampa defeated T-Bar in singles action. Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez beat Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin in other match.
We’ll have to see how Ciampa does on the main roster, but just because he didn’t wrestle on RAW doesn’t mean he just sat in catering all night.
