Tommaso Ciampa had one of the best runs of any superstar in NXT. The long stint in developmental was largely due to Ciampa’s preference to stick it out with NXT. The Sicilian Psychopath was one of the few independent wrestlers from the Triple H era left on the rebranded NXT 2.0.

Rumors have been flying that Ciampa was to be called up to the main roster soon. Tommaso even went out on his back and gave a farewell speech. It has now been reported that Ciampa’s call-up to the main roster will begin with tonight’s Monday Night Raw in Detroit.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider reported that Tommaso Ciampa was seen in Detroit before tonight’s show. A follow-up indicated that Ciampa has been officially added to the Raw roster. Ciampa is expected to debut this evening.

“Tommaso Ciampa has been called up officially to the Monday Night Raw roster, PWInsider.com has confirmed.”

At NXT Stand & Deliver, Tommaso Ciampa paid tribute to the NXT of the past. Ciampa has been working dark matches before main roster television tapings for weeks. It seems as though his time has now come.

There may not be a more emblematic example of what NXT used to be than Ciampa. Along with Johnny Gargano, he was the lifeblood of the black and gold version of the brand. It will be interesting to see how he will be used now that he is officially a Raw superstar.
