Shad Gaspard tragically lost his life in May of 2020 when he sacrificed himself to save his son. The two were swept away by a strong rip current while in the ocean at Venice Beach, California. JTG also revealed something interesting about Shad Gaspard’s WWE Hall Of Fame moment.
JTG used to team up with Shad Gaspard during their time as Cryme Tyme in WWE during the late 2000s. The two would eventually split up and go their separate ways in the company.
Gaspard was awarded the ‘Warrior Award’ at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony last week. Shad’s wife Siliana was accompanied to the ring by JTG and her son to collect the award on her husband’s behalf.
While speaking on the Black Announce Table podcast, JTG revealed that he was not originally supposed to go on stage during Shad Gaspard’s moment.
“We were just chilling and then the show started and I didn’t hear anything back from anybody. Usually, the WWE likes to rehearse things beforehand and we have heard it. So I’m like, ‘You’re not gonna do it because this is live TV, they don’t want any mistakes or accidents.’ But right before Shad’s vignette came on, I got to tap on the shoulder and they gave me the green light. So it was a last-minute decision and I am genuinely thankful that they gave the opportunity.”
Shad Gaspard will forever be remembered for his courage and will to sacrifice himself for his son. Fans and peers alike will always respect Gaspard for what he did in the end.
