Kevin Owens had been building up a feud with WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin for the past couple of months. It all culminated at WrestleMania 38 Night One. Matt Hardy also commented on Kevin Owens squaring off against Steve Austin at the Show of Shows.

Owens and Austin faced each other in a No Holds Barred match. In the end, Austin won the match, which received a lot of praise from fans and pro wrestlers alike. This is because it was much better than expected considering initial expectations.

While speaking on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy talked about his time in Ring Of Honor. Hardy stated that he feels Owens was the perfect wrestler to face Steve Austin.

“I am genuinely very happy for Kevin Owens. I have a lot of respect for him. I even talked to him after the match as well. I’m so glad he got that moment because he was a guy that I first worked with in Ring of Honor and I knew he was special right from moment one. Owens is a terrific performer. A lot of people then were judgmental of his body shape but the hell with that man, that really doesn’t make a difference in the standing age.”
