Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey battled it out on the grandest stage of them all for the SmackDown Women’s Championship last weekend. Their feud carried over to this week, when an I Quit match was proposed.

WWE has now announced that the rematch is official. Charlotte Flair will defend the gold against Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash. WWE announced the news via Twitter.

The rivals will throw down at the May 8 premium live event. Ronda is planning on humiliating Charlotte after she was screwed over by a ref bump at WrestleMania. Ronda insists that Charlotte will drop the title at Backlash.

“Despite the fact that Rousey made Flair tap out at WrestleMania, she did not win the title due to the referee being knocked out when it happened. Although Flair was able to squeak out a victory, Rousey returned to SmackDown the following Friday and wasted little time challenging The Opportunity to an “I Quit” Match.

In response to the bold challenge, Flair refused and told The Rowdy One to get to the back of the line. Not to be outdone, though, The Baddest Woman on the Planet insisted the rematch will happen and that Charlotte will scream “no” when she turns the titleholder’s arm backward. She later petitioned to have the rematch, and WWE Management made it official on WWE Talking Smack.”

Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey will settle their differences in a match that should have an exciting finish. Neither woman will want to give up with such a personal feud as well as a world title on the line. Fans can check out Backlash on Peacock in the US and the WWE Network elsewhere.
