AEW partnered with the Owen Hart Foundation, led by Owen’s wife Martha, to bring the Owen Hart Tournament to the Jacksonville-based wrestling promotion. The company recently advertised the participants for the first and next round of qualifiers for the men and women’s tournaments respectively.
Samoa Joe will be in action for the first time in an AEW ring as he takes on The Acclaimed’s Max Caster for the first round of Owen Hart Men’s Tournament, per AEW President and CEO Tony Khan. Joe shocked everyone when he appeared during the closing moments of ROH: Supercard of Honor.
Former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida will also wrestle Julia Hart of Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison) in the next round of qualifier for the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament. Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter have already moved on to the next stage of matches for the tournament.
