After Edge made his shocking return at the 2020 Royal Rumble, he quickly got engaged in a feud with Randy Orton. The two would have two intense matches back in 2020. One would be their Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36 and the other was their one-on-one match at WWE Backlash, which WWE billed as the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.”

The match received a lot of praise from fans and Superstars alike as both competitors gave it their all in order to win the match. Ultimately, Randy Orton won the match. However, Edge suffered a triceps injury during the match and had to miss several months of action.

While speaking to Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show, Randy Orton talked about his program with Edge back in 2020. Orton stated that he feels Edge is a big brother future to him, who helped him out of the rut he was in.

“Having Edge come back and having a person that mentored me and I looked up to, that bigger brother figure that I haven’t had for a decade. Now all of a udden I have this guy – ‘Oh wow! Can you help me with this?’ Instead of everyone coming to me or instead make me feel like I don’t have someone to talk to – now I’ve got Edge.

Orton added that the Rated R Superstar helped him “turn it around” because of his “old-schooled mentality.’ Randy Orton and Edge will always have a lot of love and respect for each other and that is what matters in the end.
