Jinder Mahal is a former WWE Champion. Mahal is still an active wrestler with the company. It seems absurd that a former world champion would be left off the biggest show of the year, but that is the reality for the Canadian superstar.
Instead, Jinder will compete in this year’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. That match will take place on tonight’s SmackDown. Mahal would rather be on the main show, but he still thinks winning the battle royal would be a nice feather in his cap.
Jinder talked to AJ Sing on “The Wrassingh Show.” Mahal said he would’ve loved to have been included on the grandest stage of them all. Jinder also understands that there isn’t enough room for everyone.
“Yeah, I would love to be on WrestleMania itself but unfortunately, I mean there’s so many, so many big matches. It’s a little bit difficult to get on. Hopefully, next year I get on but this year we have the ‘Andre the Giant’ memorial battle royal.
It’s actually very big. It’s big for me, I’ve been wanting to to win the Andre battle royal since the very first one, which I was in! If you look at all the past winners.. I mean there’s some big, big names. Everyone from Baron Corbin to Big Show to Cesaro.
I think when it’s all said and done, when I retire, it would be a great accomplishment to have – WWE champion, United States champion, hopefully Intercontinental champion, hopefully tag team champion and also Andre the Giant memorial battle royal winner.”
Jinder Mahal is taking a positive approach to his exclusion from WrestleMania. Jinder will have a chance to add to his impressive resume with a win in tonight’s battle royal. Fans can watch it happen live at 8 PM eastern on Fox.
