Sting shocked the world when he made his debut in AEW back in December 2020. Since then he has been featured heavily on AEW television being paired up with Darby Allin. Many AEW stars want a piece of Sting, including Paul Wight.
Despite being over 60, Sting certainly has been competing at an unexpectedly high level and that has certainly impressed fans and pro wrestlers alike. For many fans, he has hardly lost a step.
Sting received a lot of props for his performance at AEW Revolution as well. While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff talked about Sting’s run in AEW so far. Bischoff stated that he thinks Sting never would’ve imagined he would still be competing at his age, in AEW.
”But like all of us, not throwing myself in his category necessarily. But people that perform people that have gone out there and at a fairly high level and got addicted to that fan energy and the reaction that you get, and addicted in a way in a healthy way, I should say to that connection, and being able to entertain and create emotion in [50,000] people all at one time. That’s a pretty powerful drug buddy, and it’s tough to just walk away from it.
Honestly, I do not believe Sting would’ve even imagined, and he really is an optimistic individual. He is a positive dude. But I don’t think even in Sting’s mind, he would have been able to 25 years ago say, you know what, when I’m 63 years old, I’m gonna still be doing this, and I’m still gonna be playing at such a high level. I don’t think he would have imagined it. I certainly didn’t.”
We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Sting and Darby Allin as fans certainly cannot get enough of seeing Sting competing inside the squared circle.
