Seth Rollins is without a WrestleMania opponent, but that won’t last for long. He is slated to face Cody Rhodes on the grandest stage of them all, and the American Nightmare’s return will likely wait until the show of shows. There are still some who aren’t copping to that fact.
Ringside News exclusively reported that Cody Rhodes is slated for WrestleMania. He was taken off the boards and internal documentation for a bit, but they put him back on. Now fans are waiting for his entrance to see whether he will be Smoke & Mirrors or his AEW entrance, a song that he might still own the rights to.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cody Rhodes’ WWE return is a done deal. Although some might try to kayfabe the situation, there are also those in WWE who consider that a silly gesture.
The Seth Rollins storyline is listed as ending with a match with Cody Rhodes, which given the respective lineups, at this stage would make the most sense on Sunday. All WWE sources indicate the belief that the deal is done and the match is happening and that any suggestion it isn’t is not the case. There are those close to the situation who are still suggesting otherwise but one person in WWE called that “silliness” at this point. Obviously from television this week the angle hasn’t changed at all, as the key thing on the show has been Rollins’ inability to get on WrestleMania.
The big question is how WWE will book Cody Rhodes from this point on. There’s no doubt that he will receive a tremendous pop in Dallas, but only time will tell where he goes from there. Cody has taken one brave leap after another throughout his entire career, so it will be interesting to see where this jump lands him.
