The Young Bucks are the longest reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions and #1 PWI Tag Team of 2021. They’ve accomplished so much in promotions like NJPW, and ROH. From being prominent members of the infamous “Bullet Club,” to facing the best in AEW. Young Bucks are seeking to regain the AAA World Tag Team Championships.
In a recent post on their Twitter bio, the Young Bucks revealed that they’ll be going to Mexico on April 30 AAA’s TripleMania XXX event in Monterrey. They also intend to bring the AAA World Tag Team Titles with them, subsequently teasing big matches on AEW Television.
“Yes, we’re coming to Mexico on 4/30,” the bio read. “Also yes, we plan on bringing the AAA Tag Team Titles with us. And last yes, we’re aware of who currently has them.”
AEW’s FTR currently hold the AAA Tag Titles. In October, they defeated Lucha Brothers to capture to titles. They’ve defended the titles three times, against Aero Star and Samuray del Sol on Dynamite, and against the Lucha Brothers at TripleMania Regia. Then against Dragon Lee and Dralistico at an AAA event in Merida, Mexico.
A match between FTR & Young Bucks has been brewing for weeks. This includes the teams having encounters in two straight tag team battle royals in February, followed by a backstage encounter two weeks ago. In November, 2020 the teams battled at Full Gear, where Young Bucks beat FTR to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
We will have to see what’s next in this situation, but Nick and Matt Jackson always find a way to make things interesting.
