Paige VanZant of AEW was on the verge of becoming Paige VanZant of WWE not long ago. However, she ultimately chose AEW, because Tony Khan’s company said all the right things to persuade her to join. It seems she shared update to make her in-ring debut.
VanZant informed host Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that she had spoken with WWE in the past and had even visited their training center a year or so ago. Paige VanZant is now training with long-time pro wrestler Gangrel in preparation for her AEW in-ring debut. When asked when she plans to enter the ring, VanZant said she hopes to do it within the next few months.
Perfect world here, in the next few months, honestly. I think that between the coaches and between everybody seeing as quickly as I’m picking it up, I truly believe that I’ll be ready to get in there here in a month or two.
Paige VanZant has previously appeared on AEW TV in the build-up to her debut, including signing her AEW contract on top of AEW star Tay Conti. Given her MMA training and Conti’s Judo expertise, VanZant believes this is a good first match for her.
VanZant stated that she would love to go in there and make a statement against Conti. She admires that fact that Conti got a black belt in Judo and come from a combat sports world. VanZant thinks it would be the perfect match-up for her and Conti to go against each other.
