Matt Cardona was known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE as he worked hard to establish himself in the company. While he found moderate success in WWE, Cardona was never seen as a top star. He is also open to talking with Vince McMahon for a possible WWE return in the future.

The former WWE Superstar was not used to the best of his abilities until his release as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts a couple of years ago. Cardona made it a mission to reinvent himself following his release and did just that, reaching new heights in the independent circuit.

He has made his mark in promotions such as Impact Wrestling, GCW and NWA, among others. He has won numerous titles from various promotions already. While speaking on Straight To Hell, the current NWA World Heavyweight Champion stated that he would definitely pick up the phone if WWE called. However, that doesn’t mean he will automatically go back to WWE.

“If Vince McMahon called me, or Bruce Prichard or John Laurinaitis called me, of course I would pick up, of course I would have a conversation. Why wouldn’t I? I’d be lying right now if I said I never want to wrestle at Madison Square Garden or I never want to wrestle at WrestleMania again. Anybody who says that is f****** lying, quite frankly.

But I’m not doing what I’m doing now hoping to get back. I don’t do what I do thinking, ‘Oh man what do I have to do to get back to WWE?’ or ‘What do I have to do to get AEW to look at me?’ No, I’m doing me. If those opportunities present itself, great but the state of pro wrestling is it’s on fire right now. You don’t need to be in those two companies…I’m trying to prove you don’t need it.”

Matt Cardona is having the best run of his career right now according to many fans. By the looks of it, it is unlikely he will be making his way back to WWE or AEW anytime soon.
