Johnny Gargano recently announced that he was ready to take control of his career and start considering independent bookings. Many fans speculated that Johnny would be heading straight to AEW after some time off for the birth of his son, Quill. It appears Gargano will be testing the independent waters for a while.
Johnny Gargano will make his first public appearance since his departure from WWE. He confirmed on Twitter today that he will be in Dallas during WrestleMania weekend for this year’s Wrestlecon event. Gargano previously stated that he will be conducting select signings, but that he is not yet ready to return to the ring.
Doing signings at Axxess was one of my favorite parts of Wrestlemania weekend (so much so that I would always ask to do extra sessions if someone couldn’t do it) Believe it or not.. I’ve never done a @wrestlecon! So it felt like a good time.. Excited to see all of you in Dallas!
Fans have been expecting Johnny Wrestling to show up in AEW ever since he allowed his WWE contract to expire without re-signing a new deal. Gargano took some time off to enjoy his growing family. Twitch streaming also became a way to stay connected with fans.
Gargano isn’t likely to return to AEW for at least another month, if not longer, as previously stated. After wrapping up his WWE NXT duties in December, he took a break to be with his wife, Candice LeRae, as she neared the end of her pregnancy. Last month, she gave birth to their first child.
