Ever since CM Punk made his debut a few months ago at AEW Rampage: The First Dance, he has certainly helped elevate talents. This has been his main goal in the first place as well. AEW has also been criticized for their CM Punk storylines so far.
CM Punk is currently one of the highlights and regular features on AEW television. His latest feud has certainly been his best so far, as he has helped flesh out MJF’s character even more.
The Second City Saint also faced off against MJF in a bloody Dog Collar match. In the end, CM Punk managed to defeat MJF after Wardlow provided some assistance. While speaking on the Keepin It 100 podcast, Disco Inferno criticized AEW for their underwhelming CM Punk storylines.
“I think the overall general backlash against CM Punk was the fact that it was not able draw as much as he could have if he would have been like, come in hot. You know, I think that really is the only thing that has been quite detrimental to Punk’s run. It is the fact that it just took so long to get where they were going, you know, it just got boring after a while, and I don’t think the interest has picked up considerably since the time they brought him in and the numbers kind of show that.”
CM Punk also missed this past week’s AEW Dynamite was he was filming for the second season of Heels. We’ll have to see what is next in store for CM Punk once he returns to AEW television.
