William Regal’s contributions to the pro wrestling world need no introductions. In his career spanning multiple decades, Regal has been part of numerous top promotions and helped cultivate talent as well. Regal also isn’t a fan of one of the most common pro wrestling terms.
After getting released by WWE earlier this year, fans wondered what the future held for William Regal. As it turned out, it meant going All Elite as Regal debuted during the AEW Revolution pay-per-view.
While speaking on Talk Is Jericho, William Regal talked about one of the common pro wrestling terms called ‘mark.’ Regal stated that he feels the term is nasty and derogatory.
“Honestly, I have never ever used the term ‘Mark’. I despite that term. I think it’s a nasty, horrible, derogatory term to call somebody who is willing to give you their time.
What you should think about is people are willing to give you their precious time to watch you do your thing. You should never look down on them, because if you do you’ll stay at that level I think. You wont try to better your craft I think (…) But would you like to spend your hard earned money to go to see a band thinking that they were looking down on you thinking “look at these idiots”? Well that’s what a ‘mark’ is and so when wrestlers talk like that, I have never talked liked that.”
William Regal is currently managing Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley as the two are now a formidable tag team. We’ll have to see how the two will fare under Regal’s tutelage.
