WWE fans in the United Kingdom have been waiting for the company to bring a premium live event (otherwise known as a pay-per-view) to their country for a long time. The massive success of SummerSlam ’92 at London’s Wembley Stadium left many wondering why WWE never held another major international event there. Last Fall, news broke that WWE is planning a UK pay-per-view for September of 2022.
One source has come forward with the date and location of the rumored WWE UK PPV. The Wrestle Votes Twitter account noted that the show will take place in Cardiff, Wales. The September 3rd event will be held at Principality Stadium.
The show would fall on the same weekend as AEW’s All Out event. WWE was planning a show in the UK anyway. They may as well use it to take some eyes off the competition.
“Source states the long-awaited WWE United Kingdom PPV return will take place Saturday, September 3rd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
That is the same weekend as AEW’s ‘All Out’ PPV.”
Principality Stadium is the national stadium of Wales. The complex seats 73,931 for rugby and soccer. The capacity is 78,000 for boxing, which would be closer to wrestling. WWE would also have to account for the construction of a set, which would probably lower that number.
UK fans have been waiting for this news for a long time. Nothing is official yet, but with the news breaking, we should hear something from WWE soon. It appears the WWE superstars are finally coming back to the UK.
